Dr. Christopher John

Before becoming a chiropractor, Christopher John, DC, earned an engineering degree from the United States Coast Guard Academy in Connecticut and served as a commissioned officer in Hawaii and New Orleans. Dr. John balanced his Coast Guard duties with MBA studies at Tulane University and the University of Hawaii and teaching transcendental meditation.

When he began to suffer from headaches and upper back pain, a friend encouraged Dr. John to visit a chiropractor. His visit prompted thoughts about a career change.

"My experience made me feel that there was great potential for chiropractic adjustments," Dr. John said. "I felt quality of life changes that went beyond just pain relief."

Choosing to enroll in chiropractic school was an easy decision.

Dr. John pursued practice and living opportunities in the Los Angeles area. In 2011, he received the "Los Angeles Times Reader's Choice Award for Best Los Angeles Chiropractor."

So, what's Dr. John's key tip for success?

"Experience and fall in love with what you are going to be doing so that your drive comes from deep conviction," he said.
